Acer ships AMD-powered Revo RL100 HTPC to Americans: $499 and up

The Perfect Office #8 The Perfect Office #8

Acer actually popped out its Revo RL100 media center right around six months ago, but for those unable to make the trip to Asia, today’s the day for getting jovial. Said player is now shipping to the US of A, hailed as a “digital hub” and outfitted with a dual-mode wireless touchpad / keyboard as well as the company’s own clear.fi streaming solution. A pair of models will be available — one with Blu-ray and one without — with the entire box measuring just 1- x 11.81- x 7.09-inches. As expected, an HDMI port ’round back will handle the bulk of the data transmissions, and an internal NVIDIA Ion graphics chip will be responsible for 1080p video playback. Within, you’ll get a 1.3GHz AMD Athlon II K325 CPU, 750GB SATA hard drive, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, three USB 2.0 ports, a multi-card reader, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and an Ethernet socket. Windows 7 Home Premium will be the OS of choice, and it can be yours for the tidy sum of $499.99 (or $569.99 if you’re looking to add BD capabilities). (at Engadget)

HandyShell iPad 2 Case

The Perfect Office #8

Like most semi-functional cases the HandyShell does more than just protect the iPad 2 with a thermoplastic polyurethane and polycarbonate housing. It also features a unique pop-out handle on the back that can be swiveled around for propping up the tablet in different orientations. And for a variety of other applications including hanging it in the kitchen so it can bang against pots and pans, or as a faux neck for playing your iPad as a small guitar. I also like the raised curved ridge on the back which provides something else to grip onto when holding the iPad in your hand. (at Oh Gizmo!)

BeoSound 8 delivers breathtaking sound performance and offers elegant design and a simple user interface. It is a fantastic solution for enjoying digital music either from your iPod, iPhone, iPad, PC or MAC. (at 7 Gadgets)

Logitech Optical Gaming Mouse G400

The Perfect Office #8

The whole point of coming up with the G400 was to take everything that was good and right with the MX518, and in a stroke of engineering genius, to make it even better. Logitech were very careful not to change anything that was already perfected, such as the shape, tracking consistency, button layout, and legendary durability. Heck, Logitech even managed to make something better cost the same.

First of all, the 1800 DPI sensor has been upgraded to a higher-resolution 3600 DPI version, so to put it in plain English, this makes it fully possible for you to perform high-speed turns without having to do wide hand sweeps, all the while maintaining fidelity. To keep up with the trend, you can also adjust DPI levels on the fly (to 400, 800, 1800, and now 3600 DPI) without the need for any software. As it is just an upgraded version of the MX518 sensor, you can expect to enjoy a similar tracking consistency 0.5% cursor to hand movement variance at up to 140 IPS, depending on surface) that you have come to know and love.
