On Saturday, Al-Nassr lifted the Arab Champions Cup trophy after a nail-biting 2-1 win against Al-Hilal in extra time. The match was defined by two moments from Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the first being his spectacular brace and the second being the heartbreaking injury that saw him carted off the field in the 115th minute.
Despite having to be replaced by Ali Alhassan, Ronaldo was still present when Al-Nassr were presented with the championship trophy and could be seen celebrating – bringing his club’s fans much hope that his injury may not be as severe as initially feared.
Al-Nassr have a lot to look forward to this league season as well. Having heard runner-up in last season’s Saudi Pro League, the team anxiously awaits its first league game of the season against Al-Ettifaq on Monday, Aug 14.
While they are in for a tough challenge, especially if Ronaldo has to miss any significant amount of time due to his injury, it behooves us to hope for nothing but success for Al-Nassr and success for Ronaldo himself in his upcoming Euro qualifying matches.
