New York City is no stranger to inclement weather, but it might be the first time Lionel Richie fans have experienced these kinds of delays. Fans, geared up for the music legend’s show with Earth Wind and Fire as part of their Sing a Song All Night Long tour at Madison Square Garden Saturday, were left in the lurch when severe weather prevented his plane from arriving from Boston.

At 8:30 pm – an hour after the concert was set to begin – Richie, 74, expressed his own disappointment in an apology posted on social media. Those who had waited at the venue were understandably frustrated, taking to their keyboards to express disapproval about the late notice.

Fortunately, a solution has been found! The concert has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Monday; all tickets will be honored and refund options are available until 7:30pm ET. Don’t miss the chance to hear your favorite artist live — even if you have to wait a little longer than expected.

Music and entertainment fans were left in limbo when Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire (EWF) postponed a much-anticipated scheduled show in New York City with only an hour of notice. Twitter user @howdy_imjack sarcastically remarked, “Thank you so much for announcing this an hour after the show was supposed to start.”

The unexpected move generated many questions, including why a veteran artist such as Richie would wait so close to showtime to arrive at the venue. The concert was especially frustrating for fans who had traveled from other cities; despite offering tickets for the rescheduled show, some opted for a refund due to inconvenience and other commitments.

The day prior, Richie and EWF successfully performed at Boston’s TD Garden, raising speculation regarding the cause of the last-minute postponement. From confused concertgoers to angry ticket holders, social media was abuzz with reactions over what many considered to be poor planning on behalf of the band. The disgruntled comments came swiftly, with @spaceforcetimes succinctly tweeting “Sounds like bad planning on your part, @LionelRichie, trying to fly in at the last minute. I’ll take a refund please – no thx to Monday!”

Music icon Lionel Richie has kicked off the Sing a Song All Night Long tour. The tour, which started Aug. 4 in St. Paul, Minnesota, is celebrating Richie’s musical legacy including classic hits like “Dancing on the Ceiling,” “Stuck on You”, and “All Night Long”. The tour is scheduled to wrap Sept. 15 in Los Angeles. In addition, Richie will keep his legendary residency in Las Vegas alive by returning to Wynn Las Vegas for six shows in October. He and the Commodores made music history with memorable numbers like “Easy,” “Sail On” and “Still”. Now it’s time to be swept away again by the captivating sounds of music’s King of Hearts!
