Back in May, rumours were swirling that singer Billie Eilish and singer Jesse Rutherford’s relationship had come to an end. The couple had been dating for six months before they confirmed the split to Page Six. However, this month, Billie is suggesting that the pair remain “very very good friends” while also denying any new relationships.
The couple’s break-up was first hinted at when Billie stepped out for this year’s Met Gala without her beau by her side. But when asked on Instagram about the status of her relationship with Jesse, the singer answered “very very good friends only (heart) my homie forever (camera emoji)”. She went on to deny any new relationships saying “No sirrrrrr (smiling emoji).
Adapting to the news, media outlets cited a statement made by Billie’s rep confirming that the pair had indeed split amicably and still remained good friends. Billie also later reassured fans in an Instagram post that although the relationship didn’t work out, she and Jesse will continue to have each other’s backs forever and ever.
Rumours of a romance between Billie Eilish and Jesse McCartney sparked in October 2021, when a fan shared a TikTok video of them leaving a haunted maze in Los Angeles holding hands. On November 1, the couple declared themselves Instagram official with an edited post featuring Billie dressed as a baby next to Jesse dressed as a senior citizen.
In a Vanity Fair interview, Billie spoke of her “really happy” relationship with Jesse and revealed her newfound confidence due to the notice she was receiving from someone she thought was “the hottest f–ker alive”. Billie also shared that she had formerly experienced body issues and did not always feel desired in her past relationships.
The five-time Grammy winner has declared that she is out of the dating scene for the foreseeable future, while Jesse has yet to comment on his thoughts on romance and relationships.
