Sparks Fly in “Maestro” Trailer: See Bradley Cooper & Carey Mulligan in Leonard Bernstein Biopic

Maestro

A first look at Bradly Cooper’s latest film has arrived, and the 48-year-old actor-director completely transforms into the late Leonard Bernstein, the notable composer of Broadway classic West Side Story. With Carey Mulligan playing his wife Felicia Montealegre, the Maestro trailer chronicles Bernstein’s monumental composing career and his powerful life-long love for his wife.

The Netflix feature also stars Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton and more and is described as “a towering and fearless love story” confirming that family and love is at its heart. As evidenced from the footage, audiences can expect hair-raising music from the famous composer as well as hypnotizing visual mores from Cooper’s directional style.

Maestro will provide an intimate look into Bernstein’s personal life, with Bradley Cooper captivatingly portraying the virtuosic musician. His ability to skillfully balance a tug at heartstrings with an intense passion for music assures that a powerful story will grace screens in 2021.

Scott Stuber, head of global film at Netflix, has high praise for the upcoming film, Maestro. In a December 2021 interview with Variety Magazine, he said that efforts have been put into the film’s makeup and voice work, and is excited to see director Cooper focusing on creating a story that resonates with him. He also commented that actress Carey Mulligan is an incredible performer who demonstrated this with her performance in Promising Young Woman last year.

During a conversation with Mahershala Ali for Variety Magazine back in January, Cooper shared that he has been passionate about conducting ever since he was a child. He confessed to having asked Santa Claus for a baton when he was 8 years old and being captivated by music – particularly Tchaikovsky’s Opus 35 in D major. Curious moviegoers and classical music fans alike will now get to see him direct Maestro, which is set to be an interesting venture where his passion finally meets an audience.
