Amazon Prime Video is set to release a new adaptation of the widely read Harlan Coben young adult mystery novel, Shelter, this Friday. Starring Jaden Michael as teenage protagonist Mickey Bolitar, the series is comprised of eight episodes and will be Coben’s debut with the streaming giant.
After the sudden passing of his father, Bolitar relocates to Kasselton, New Jersey to live with his aunt. The show brings to life the first book in the Harlan Coben young adult series, and marks his first venture with Amazon Prime Video following other works such as Safe, The Stranger and Stay Close being adapted for Netflix.
Tragedy strikes Kassleton High School when high school junior Mickey Bolitar tragically loses his father in a car accident. Distraught but determined, Mickey moves in with his aunt, where soon enough he is closely involved in the disappearance of fellow student Ashley Kent – bringing many hidden truths to light.
With the help of his friends Spoon and Ema, Mickey embarks on a journey to uncover the seedy underworld that lies within Kasselton – with decades-old mysteries including disappearances, deaths, and local legends waiting to be uncovered. In this vast and seemingly never-ending quest, Mickey may even discover secrets about his own family, proving that we must search for truth and justice no matter the cost.
