Tragedy as Private Jet Plunges into Malaysia Highway, Killing 10 – Police

tragedy

At least 10 people were tragically killed when a chartered private jet crashed onto a highway, Malaysia’s police have reported. The aircraft, a Beechcraft, had been travelling from the Langkawi islands to Selangor, close to Kuala Lumpur. The air traffic control tower had cleared the jet for landing, but tragically it lost contact and came crashing down onto a car and motorbike.

Investigations are underway to find the black box containing its flight data but the chief of Selangor police, Hussein Omar Khan said there was no distress signal prior to the incident. Such a tragedy has left many questioning why and how this was allowed to occur while others are mourning the loss of loved ones and praying for those injured.

As Transport Minister Anthony Loke shares, the cause behind the aircraft crash remains a mystery, for which officials have begun investigations. Reports of injury come from a witness who heard an explosion followed by a loud boom; whilst another civilian shares their experience in observing the plane “flying erratically” shortly before the incident of the crash came to pass.

It is a time of tremendous pain for all those affected, as we come to terms with the destruction left on our doorstep. Mohamad Syahmie Mohamad Hashim’s hauntingly stoic words reflect a stark reality as he stated that he ‘couldn’t do anything’ upon arriving at the location of the crash. The government works tirelessly to bring closure to those affected as quickly as possible, yet no matter how hard they try, nothing can replace what has been lost.
